Antonio Brown seeks custody of daughter after alleged domestic dispute

Brown's attorney said the incident involved his child's mother, who "had no lawful basis to be at or to remain on his property."

Antonio Brown reportedly has filed for custody of his daughter in the wake of the alleged domestic dispute involving him in Florida in mid-January.

ESPN reported that Jaclyn Soroka, Brown’s family attorney, released a statement outlining Brown's request. TMZ first reported earlier this week that police in Hollywood, Fla., investigated what they described as a "domestic dispute" involving Brown and an unidentified woman. No charges were filed. Brown released a statement through his attorney calling the allegations "baseless and false."

Friday's statement from Brown's attorney said the incident involved the mother of Brown's child. The woman allegedly demanded money from Brown and "had no lawful basis to be at or to remain on his property."

"Unfortunately, there have been misleading and inaccurate headlines of a 'domestic dispute' insinuating that Antonio Brown was responsible for wrongdoing in relation to the baseless, false police report made, which was immediately recanted, by the Complainant/Mother who refused to leave his personal residence and who had no lawful basis to be at or to remain on his property," the statement read. "On the date at issue, Mr. Brown reacted appropriately and without any indicia of violence. The Mother inappropriately involved their minor child by creating an unnecessary scene at Mr. Brown's residence wherein she demanded funds from Mr. Brown, despite the fact that he provides substantial financial child support to the Mother.

"The Mother recently sought, and was Denied, additional child support by the Court as it properly found that the substantial child support paid by Mr. Brown covers their child's needs.

"Given the egregiousness of the Mother's recent actions, Mr. Brown has taken legal action this week to ensure that his daughter is protected by majority timesharing and decision-making authority. Mr. Brown loves his daughter and the recent unwarranted press in connection with the Mother's appalling actions is a travesty for his daughter, who remains will always be his first and foremost priority."

An NFL spokesperson has told Pro Football Talk that the league would look into the incident.

Brown has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks regarding his future. He missed the Steelers' final week of practice and was benched for the season finale after an alleged feud with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Since then, he's been the subject of trade rumors.
