Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield will be on the North team roster at the Senior Bowl later this month. Mayfield's placement on the North roster obliged a request made by the Broncos, whose coaching staff will lead the North squad.
Senior Bowl director Phil Savage told ESPN Radio of the request and confirmed Mayfield's roster placement to Omnisport on Friday.
Mayfield, who won the Heisman Trophy after leading Oklahoma to a Big 12 championship and berth in the College Football Playoff, threw for 4,627 yards with 43 touchdowns and six interceptions this season. The 6-1, 220-pound Texas native was a two-time All-American and leaves Oklahoma as the school's second-leading passer with 12,292 yards and 119 touchdowns to just 21 interceptions.
The Broncos have the fifth overall pick in April's NFL Draft and a need at quarterback. Broncos coach Vance Joseph and his staff will get a closeup look at Mayfield during the week of practice leading up to the Senior Bowl game on Jan. 27.
